Often times when you have to select a gift the first question that comes to your mind is ‘Who is it for?’ If it is a gift for a family member or close friend, acquaintance or business contact you play it out in your mind. Is the recipient young or old, near or far, fussy or the life of the party? All this influence the kind of gift that comes to your mind. Is it one of those names passed down to you by the boss to try and figure out who gets what and when. I like the challenge that the personal assistance’s to a seriously busy blue chip company head has when he/she has to balance between diarizing the birthdays and anniversary details for the boss’s family.

A Client called and said they would like something special for their 8yr old daughter’s birthday. Hmm you have to think on the spot. Thankfully I have an 8yr old so I had the opportunity to ask what little girls her age like. The client let’s call her Paris had thought a Cinderella themed birthday was cool. ‘Whose Gift Is That Anyway?,” is a short comedic film about giving and receiving gifts. We all receive gifts that we don’t like, and then they become the handy, in-a-crunch-for-time, re-gifted gift. But, have you ever re-gifted a gift in front of the person who gave it you? And then you discover that is was a re-gifted gift from yet someone else? What is the motivation behind a re-gifted gift? And what happens next when the secret is out: That you have been… Re-gifted. Written by Adella Rae’
If you’re into gifts that are novel, thought provoking, useful and (my favorite) won’t clutter the recipient’s life, give a voucher a gander, especially when you cannot quite figure it out. That moves the onus to the recipient.. Gift ideas are not always about the luxury or expensive things. for example you can give your parents a sweet surprise as a gift and make them happy on their 30th wedding anniversary.
